NHS 111 is a new service that’s being introduced to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services. You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency. NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time.

From March 2013 NHS 111 will be the number for patients to call for urgent medical care or advice or if they become ill, particularly after their GP surgery has closed. The service is part of the wider improvements now being made to the urgent care system. The aim is to deliver a 24/7 urgent care service that ensures people receive the right care, from the right person, in the right place, at the right time.
